Indications

Albuterol is a popular medicine that is widely known under the generic name of Albuterol and Ipratropium. Albuterol's main ingredients are known to relax the muscles in the organism's airways, thus improving breathing. Albuterol is also known to effectively prevent the narrowing of the patient's airways (therefore increasing the flow of air to the patient's lungs). Albuterol can also be indicated in order to prevent bronchospasm seizures.
Albuterol is mainly indicated in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders that are also known under the name of COPD. However, Albuterol might also be indicated to prevent or to treat some other medical conditions that have not been listed here. It may also be indicated for purposes other than those stated here.

Contraindications

You must not use Albuterol if you are suffering from a known allergic reaction to peanuts or to soybeans (this medical condition is widely known as soya lecithin allergy). Albuterol (Albuterol) is also not recommended if you are suffering from any of the following medical conditions:
- Diabetes;
- Glaucoma;
- Heart disease;
- High blood pressure;
- Hyperthyroidism;
- Liver or kidney disease;
- Obstruction of the bladder or enlarged prostate;
- Seizure disorder;

If you are suffering from any of the medical conditions that have been listed here, you might not be allowed to use Albuterol and Ipratropium or you might have to take a lower dose of Albuterol. Albuterol is a category C FDA pregnancy drug. Therefore, it has not been clearly determined whether a treatment with Albuterol could harm a growing fetus or not. If you are pregnant or if you think that you might become pregnant soon, you should ask for your personal physician's approval before you start taking Albuterol. It has not been clearly established whether Albuterol's main ingredients are able to pass into the mother's breast milk or not. However, if you are currently nursing an infant, we strongly advise you to ask for your personal physician's approval before you start using Albuterol.

Intake Guidelines

Ask your doctor how and when it is recommended that you take Albuterol. You should follow each advice that your physician has given you. You can also rely on the instructions from the drug's package. If you fail to understand some of these directions, you should ask a pharmacist, a doctor or a nurse for further advice.
Albuterol can be indicated through nebulization or through an inhaler. When using the Albuterol inhaler, you must shake it well before you uncap its mouthpiece. Then, you should put the drug's special mouthpiece into your mouth (make sure that it passes your teeth but that it remains above your tongue). It is recommended that you should place the inhaler several inches away from your mouth. As you push the medicine's canister you should take a slow, deep breath. After inhaling the medicine you should hold your breath for about ten seconds. You can now slowly exhale. The container must be discarded after 200 inhalations.
When using the Albuterol nebulization, you should open only one ampule. Put the ampule in the drug chamber of the nebulizer. You must now attach the drug chamber to the mouthpiece and to the compressor. Sit in an upright but comfortable position. In order to inhale, you must place the medicine's mouthpiece into your mouth. To make sure that you have inhaled the entire amount of drug, you must breathe slowly and evenly. Stop breathing when the nebulizer is mist clear.

Dosage

Ask your doctor to tell you the correct dose of Albuterol that you should take in. Do not alter this dose in any way. Remember, the correct dosage can vary from one patient to another, as it depends on a variety of factors.

Overdose

If you are suffering from an overdose with Albuterol you are in need of immediate medical care. You must contact your local poison control centre as soon as possible. Alert your physician at once. The average overdose symptoms are:
- Angina or chest pain;
- Fluttering heart;
- Headache;
- Irregular heartbeats;
- Nausea;
- Seizures;
- Tremor;
- Vomiting;
- Weakness;

Missed Dose

To get the proper results from your treatment with Albuterol, you should take Albuterol regularly. If you happen to miss a dose of Albuterol, you should take it as soon as you recall. If it is time for another dose, you should skip the one that you have missed and continue your dosing schedule. Do not take double doses of Albuterol without your physician's approval.

Side Effects

Albuterol is known to sometimes trigger severe allergic reactions and side effects such as:
- Chest pain;
- Closing of the throat;
- Difficulty breathing;
- Hives;
- Irregular heartbeats;
- Swelling of the lips, tongue or face;

If you are experiencing any of these side effects you should stop using Albuterol and Ipratropium and seek emergency medical care.

- Blurred vision;
- Dry mouth or cough;

Please inform your physician if you experience any of the side effects that have been listed here or if you feel anything abnormal during your treatment with Albuterol.
